Søgaard ranked second among North American goaltenders ahead of 2019 NHL Draft

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Two members of the Medicine Hat Tigers, along with one member of the Brooks Bandits, are ranked in the NHL Central Scouting final rankings ahead of the 2019 NHL Draft.

Goaltender Mads Søgaard saw his draft stock rise, now being ranked second among North American goaltenders. He was ranked third among North American goaltenders in the midterm rankings.

Søgaard finished the 2018-19 season with a 19-8-2-2 record in the regular season, a 2.64 goals against average and 0.921 save percentage.

He also played six games in the WHL playoffs, finishing with a 3.16 goals against average and a 0.919 save percentage.

Søgaard also represented Denmark at this year’s World Junior Hockey Championship.

Forward Brett Kemp is also listed on the rankings. His final rank is 171, down from 156 in the midterm rankings.

Kemp, who was acquired by the Tigers following a trade with the Edmonton Oil Kings, finished the regular season with 60 points (33 goals, 27 assists) in 64 games. In six playoff games, he finished with three points (one goal, three assists).

Luke Bast of the Brooks Bandits is also on the final rankings, listed at 137, up from 158 in the midterm rankings.

In 45 games this season, the Red Deer native collected 35 points (seven goals, 28 assists).

This year’s NHL Entry Draft runs June 21-22 in Vancouver.
