MEDICINE HAT, AB — A former Winnipeg broadcaster facing robbery charges had his case adjourned to Medicine Hat provincial court on Friday.

Stephen Vogelsang, 55, made a brief appearance in Medicine Hat Court of Queen’s Bench Friday morning. During the appearance, an application for re-election made by Vogelsang’s lawyer Greg White was submitted, which will move Vogelsang’s case back to provincial court on April 18.

The justice approved the application.

Vogelsang was arrested and charged with two counts of robbery in October 2017 after allegedly robbing a Bank of Montreal Branch and a Royal Bank of Canada branch in Medicine Hat.

Last week, Vogelsang entered guilty pleas to four charges of robbery in a Regina courtroom, in connection with bank robberies in Regina and Saskatoon between July and October 2017.

According to the Regina Leader-Post, he received a five-year prison sentence, but with credit for time served, will serve three years in prison.

No plea has been entered on the Medicine Hat charges.

Vogelsang was a broadcaster and news director for CKY (now CTV Winnipeg). He also was a journalism instructor at Red River College in Winnipeg.
