‘Play them honest’: MacPherson, Nassen on shutting down Oil Kings

Mar 23, 2019 | 9:00 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Vince Loschiavo and Trey Fix-Wolansky of the Edmonton Oil Kings combined for 164 points this season — earning the label as one of the most potent tandems in the WHL.

Both players also put up a team-leading six points each in six games against the Medicine Hat Tigers in the regular season.

It’s clear the Tabbies will have their hands full in round one, but with enough preparation and awareness, they trust they’ll keep the two phenoms at bay.

Veteran blue-liners Dylan MacPherson and Linus Nassen are taking greater defensive responsibilities against Loschiavo and Fix-Wolansky.

Mitch Bach of CHAT Sports spoke to MacPherson and Nassen to discuss how they intend to keep them off the scoreboard, and how playoff experience could give the Tigers the edge over the Oil Kings.

Puck drop for Game 1 of their best-of-seven series is 7:30 p.m. from Rogers Place on Saturday.
