MEDICINE HAT, AB — Air Canada will continue flying in Medicine Hat for another five years if a new agreement is approved by city council.

The city’s development and infrastructure committee supported a new lease for Air Canada at the Medicine Hat Regional Airport.

Air Canada pays $23,400 a year to rent the space at the airport, and also pays landing fees to the city.

“This relationship is very important to the city as a whole, community as a whole,” said Stan Schwartzenberger, development and infrastructure commissioner for the city. “It provides another, I think, expected service in a mid-sized city that businesses and residents alike are looking for.”

It will be brought to city council for final approval during the meeting on April 1.
