MEDICINE HAT, AB — Add another accolade to Mads Sogaard’s esteemed rookie campaign.

The towering Danish netminder for the Medicine Hat Tigers has been named to the WHL’s Eastern Conference Second All-Star Team.

Sogaard is one of four netminders who can rightfully call themselves all-stars, joining Ian Scott (East’s First Team) of the Prince Albert Raiders, Everett Silvertips’ Dustin Wolf (West’s First Team) and Beck Warm (West’s Second Team) of the Tri-City Americans.

Standing a colossal 6’7″ in the blue-paint, Sogaard is enjoying a breakout rookie campaign that’s caused many professional scouts to turn heads.

The 18-year-old is the top-ranked WHL goaltender eligible for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, boasting a .921 save percentage and 2.64 goals against average in 37 games.

He’s also a two-time winner of the CHL’s Goaltender of the Week award and dressed for Team Orr in the CHL’s annual Top Prospects Game in January.

Sogaard is preparing to make his WHL playoff debut this weekend against the Edmonton Oil Kings. Game 1 of their best-of-seven series is set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. from Rogers Place.
