MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers returned to practice on Tuesday after a couple days off, preparing for their opening round playoff matchup against the Central Division Champion Edmonton Oil Kings.

Games 1 and 2 are set for Saturday and Sunday respectively from the ever-glamourous confines of Rogers Place. The best-of-seven fiasco will shift to the Gas City for Games 3 and 4 next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Medicine Hat is embracing the ‘underdog role’, seeing the Edmonton Oil Kings put the cherry on top of a tremendous campaign with 11-straight victories.

Special teams will be key factors that could dictate who moves onto the second round, and who heads into the off-season. Medicine Hat has killed 27 of their last 39 penalties over the last 12 games — a 69.2% rate that will likely not hold up against the high-powered offense of Edmonton.

Mitch Bach of CHAT Sports caught up with captain James Hamblin to discuss how they plan to knock the Oil Kings off their thrown.

Plus, forwards Jaxon Steele and Logan Christensen talk about their excitement ahead of their first career playoff games, and assistant coach Ryan Smith outlines the team’s practice regime along with their overall health.
