Bandits fall in Game 3, 3-2 in overtime to Canmore
CANMORE, AB – Despite shooting 60 pucks at the opposition’s net, the Brooks Bandits suffered their first loss in nearly four months as they dropped a 3-2 overtime heartbreaker in Game 3 in Canmore on Monday night.
The Bandits won 35 consecutive games heading into the match, and had only played in 3 overtimes all season, winning them all. With the loss, the Brooks lead in the Best of 7 South Division semifinal is now 2 games to 1. Eagles goaltender Thomas Davis made 58 saves in the win, while Bandits goaltender Pierce Charleson (Aurora, ON) made 23 saves.
For the first time in the playoffs, the Bandits surrendered the first goal. Forward Quinton Ong one-timed the puck from the left circle just 1:57 into the game on the powerplay.
Less than five minutes later, Bandits forward William Lemay (Marieville, QC) shot the puck from the left circle and tipped off a Canmore stick into the back of the Canmore net to tie it 1-1.
