Winnipeg’s Valour FC has signed former Montreal Impact midfielder Michael Petrasso to a one-year contract.

The 23-year-old Canadian international made 14 appearances for the Impact, joining the MLS side in January 2018.

“He’s a player who has terrific dynamic attacking qualities and has been a key component of every Canadian squad since U-17,” Valour FC coach and GM Rob Gale said in a statement.

Petrasso began with the Toronto FC academy before moving abroad to play for England’s Queens Park Rangers FC with loan spells at Oldham Athletic, Coventry City, Leyton Orient and Notts County.

Named U-20 Canadian Male Player of the Year in 2014, Petrasso made his debut for the senior national team in 2016 in a friendly against Azerbaijan.

The Canadian Premier League kicks off its inaugural season April 27.
