LETHBRIDGE, AB – An early exit for both of Medicine Hat College’s futsal teams at ACAC Championship this weekend at Lethbridge College.

Both Rattlers clubs wrapped up their round-robin schedules on the outside of the playoff picture on Saturday, seeing their seasons come to an end in the process.

Splitting their two games on Friday, the Rattlers men’s futsal team dropped an 8-4 heart breaker to the Lethbridge College Kodiaks early Saturday which saw the team eliminated from playoff contention.

Playing for pride, Medicine Hat capped off their 2019 season with a 7-4 victory over the Ambrose University Lions led by veteran Albert Woodroofe-Brown’s player of the game performance.

Finishing with a 2-2 record, the Rattlers will finish in third place in the White Division and will not advance to Sunday’s playoff games.

It was also the final match in Rattlers colours for both Woodroofe-Brown and incoming men’s soccer coach Rafael Almeida, who are both set to graduate this spring.

A tough go for the Rattlers women’s team as well, who went into Saturday’s contest knowing they too would see their season come to a close.

Facing off against the 1-0 Olds College Broncos, the Rattlers scored a pair of goals in the second half but dropped a 7-2 decision in their final round-robin test.

Emily Weimer took home player of the game honours for Medicine Hat, while the team finished the tournament winless at 0-3.

All members of the Rattlers women’s team are eligible to return next year, which would be the final collegiate season for fourth-years Weimer and Melissa Dorais.
