Hounds win first game of SCAHL Championship Series

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Midget AA Hounds took the first game on their playoff series against the South Central Alberta Hockey League’s top team in the North.

The Hounds were victorious 4-1 over Red Deer CanPro Thursday evening at the Kinplex to take the first game of the SCAHL Championship.

It only 16 seconds for Levi Schlosser to open the scoring for the Hounds in the first period, helping the team rally to a 3-1 lead in the first period. Connor Miller and Zackery Dovichak added goals for the Hounds during the period.

Kodan Smallboy scored Red Deer’s lone goal in the first period.

Austin Klimosko scored seven minutes into the second period to put the game out of reach for Red Deer.

Hounds goaltender Teron Funk made 19 saves during the contest, while Zaiden Hansen made 36 saves for Red Deer.

Game two will take place Saturday in Red Deer at 4:45 p.m.

If a third game is needed, it will take place Sunday at the Kinplex, with puck drop at 6:45 p.m.
