Zeidell drops first game at U18 Curling provincials

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Connor Zeidell’s rink dropped his first game at the U18 Optimist Boy’s Provincial Championship on Thursday.

The Medicine Hat team, which consists of Zeidell, Cole Lewis, Kolby MacDonald and Bryson Helmle, dropped a close 4-3 decision to Cortland Sonnenberg’s rink out of Grande Prairie Thursday afternoon at the Medicine Hat Curling Club.

Zeidell’s rink were able to tie the game 3-3 near the end, but Sonnenberg earned the victory in the eighth and final end.

Sonnenberg, curling with Adam Elsenheimer, Jaxon Hiebert and Owen Fenske, advance to the next round to take on the St. Albert team skipped by Nicolas Oake at 7 p.m.

Zeidell is now into the ‘B’ bracket, where he will face Lethbridge’s Josh Kroker at 7 p.m. tonight.
