Mohawks in consolation round at basketball Provincials

EDMONTON, AB — The Medicine Hat High School Mohawks have been relegated to the consolation round at the Alberta Schools Athletic Association 4A Basketball Provincials.

The Mohawks, who were seeded 12th in the tournament, were defeated by fifth-seeded Bishop O’Byrne High School 93-79 Thursday morning at the tournament in Edmonton.

According to the score sheet, Nathan Petrone dominated the court for Bishop O’Byrne, scoring 32 points through the game.

Ethan Egert led the Mohawks with 22 points through the game, with teammate Eidan Jonker scoring 14, and Aiden Gripp scoring 13.

The Mohawks return to action Friday morning, where they take on Foothills at 10 a.m. for a spot in the consolation bracket semifinals.

The consolation final takes place Saturday at 2 p.m.
