Hat High athletes find podium at wrestling provincials

STONY PLAIN, AB — A pair of Medicine Hat athletes had podium finishes at the Alberta Schools Athletic Association’s Provincial Wrestling Championships this past weekend.

Zach Campbell is coming home with a gold medal, after winning in the male-90 kilogram category at provincials in Stony Plain, held March 8-9. Nolan McNaughton took home third place in the male – 59 kilograms category. Both are members of the Medicine Hat High School Mohawks team.

Kayen Ivey finished in fourth place in the male- 76 kilogram category, while William McDougall finished in fourth place in the male 120+ kilogram division, and Kaeden Lowe finished in sixth place in the male – 82 kilogram category.

On the women’s side, Jimena Mayoral finished in sixth place in the female – 50 kilogram category.

As a team, Medicine Hat High School finished in second place in the boys 4A school category at the meet. The school finished with 20 points, behind Sir Winston Churchill School, which had 32 points.
