OKOTOKS, AB – A picture perfect round-robin for the Medicine Hat Midget AA Hounds, wrapping up preliminary games on Saturday at the South Central Alberta Hockey League playoff tournament.

Facing the Wheatland Chiefs after a 2-0 start to the tournament, the Hounds scored three times in the second period to double up the Chiefs by a 4-2 final.

After a scoreless opening period, Connor Miller found the score sheet with a goal 9:27 into the second to give Medicine Hat their first lead.

That was followed by goals in rapid succession from Austin Klimosko and Matt Lafferty to put some breathing room between the Hounds and Chiefs.

Wheatland was able to solve Medicine Hat’s Nate Hoffman with 5:42 left in the period however, as Jaycob Masciangelo made it a 3-1 contest.

Brandon Kasdorf struck for the Hounds on the power play 5:19 into the third frame, before the Chiefs answered back with a Lachlan Stewart marker just seconds later.

Hoffman, who had 19 saves on the afternoon, was able to hold the door the rest of the way to keep the Hounds undefeated playoff record alive with a 4-2 victory.

Medicine Hat is guaranteed to finish no lower than second place in their pool and will be playing in the SCAHL semi-finals, which will be played on Sunday morning in Okotoks.
