COCHRANE, AB – A positive end to the 2018-19 campaign for the SEAC Midget 15 Tigers on Friday night, capping their season with a 5-3 comeback victory over Calgary’s NWCAA Stamps.

Going 0-2 to begin the round-robin at the 2019 Sutter South Cup, the Tigers knew that Friday night’s contest would be their last of the season.

They came out of the gate slow against the Stamps, falling behind 2-0 over the first 10 minutes of action thanks to Calgary goals from Ty Pearce and Hunter Price.

Calgary extended their lead to 3-0 early in the second period from Jared Norris, beating SEAC’s Aidan Low five minutes into the middle stanza.

The Tigers needed just 48 seconds to get on the board however, with sniper Ethan Machan breaking the shutout bid less than a minute later.

Vaughn Strutt was able to cut the Stamps deficit to a single goal near the midway mark of the period, receiving a pass from Jarred Schrock for his first of the night.

Just 52 seconds into the third period, the Tigers knotted up the contest at 3-3 courtesy of first-year forward Mason Mowat who beat Calgary netminder Josh Doughty.

SEAC’s breakthrough came with 7:10 left in regulation, as Machan fired home his second of the night on the power play to give the Tigers their first lead of the contest.

Defenceman Kaden Rath tacked on an empty-net goal with one minute left on the score clock, giving the Tigers a victory to finish off their season.

Machan had two goals and an assist in the win for SEAC, while Low made 18 saves between the pipes in his final appearance of the year.

Finishing the season with a 16-11-7 record in league action, the Tigers were able to post their best record since the 2013-14 season.

Earlier this week, the SEAC Bantam AAA Tigers fell in two games to the Red Deer Rebels in second round playoff action to see their season come to a close.
