LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Medicine Hat High Mohawks basketball team is off to provincials, while the Kwahommies saw their season come to an end at 4A zones on Friday night.

The Mohawks took down the sixth-ranked Magrath High Zeniths 87-69 at the University of Lethbridge in the ‘B’ bracket semi-final, securing one of four provincial berths out of the South Zone.

Closing out the tournament on Saturday, the Mohawks will meet up against the host LCI Rams in the bronze medal match at 4:00 pm.

Provincials for the Mohawks will begin on Thursday morning at Jasper Place High School in Edmonton.

As for the Kwahommies, it was the end of the road on Friday as they fell 68-58 to the second-ranked Cardston Cougars in the ‘B’ semi-final.

It was also the final game in a Kwahommies uniform for Kyla Kearley and Brooklyn Kaczynski, who are both set to graduate from Hat High.

Finishing fifth overall at 4A zones, the Kwahommies failed to qualify for provincials for the first time since 2016.
