Taber RCMP investigating rural fire and suspected grow operation

WRENTHAM, AB — The Taber/Vauxhall RCMP is investigating after a suspected cannabis grow operation was discovered following a structure fire on Monday.

Police and firefighters were called to a structure fire at a rural property in Wrentham, Alberta, located approximately 33 kilometres south of Taber, on Monday.

While crews worked to extinguish the fire, which was located in a large shop on the property, police were advised that cannabis plants were present inside the structure. Once the fire was extinguished, police located the remnants of a grow operation in the shop.

The investigation into the fire and the grow operation into the shop is ongoing.
