Kingsbury takes Crystal Globe, final World Cup event cancelled due to fog
ALMATY, Kazakhstan — Canada’s Mikael Kingsbury earned his eighth Crystal Globe title Sunday without having to compete in the season-ending moguls World Cup event.
The dual moguls competition was cancelled due to thick fog at the venue.
“Conditions were hazardous today. I think the FIS made the right decision to cancel the event,” said Kingsbury, the reigning Olympic champion. “We couldn’t see a thing from the top of the course.”
Kingsbury, of Deux-Montagnes, Que., won silver in the single moguls event Saturday and ended the season with 825 points in the FIS overall standings.
