OLDS, AB – The Brooks Bandits (52-3) extended their record winning streak to 28 games, and moved just one win behind the AJHL record for wins in a season, downing the Olds Grizzlys 4-2 on the road on Saturday night.

Ryan Mahshie (Stoney Creek, ON) and Arnaud Vachon (Ajax, ON) had a goal and an assist each, while Tanner Marshall (Kelowna, B.C.) extended his undefeated record to 11-0, making 19 saves.

Vachon opened the scoring just 39 seconds into the game when he jammed home a rebound of a Brandon Scanlin (Hamilton, ON) shot. Ray Christy (St. Paul, MN) doubled the lead at the 11:20 mark when he took a pass from Mahshie at the end wall and fired a wrist shot from the left circle past Olds goalie Duncan Hughes.

The Bandits outshot the Grizzlys 19-6 in the second but only converted once, on a Mahsie wraparound goal at the 4:57 mark.

Brooks extended the lead at the 10:08 mark of the third when Andranik Armstrong (Alexandria, VA) skated out from behind the net, and scored on a turnaround wrister.

Olds scored twice on late power play goals on a point shot by Noah Kiemel at 16:13 and a left circle wrister from Hunter Floris at 19:17.

Brooks outshot the Grizzlys 43-21 in the game. The Bandits will next host the Calgary Mustangs on Family Day Monday at 4 PM, aiming for their 29th straight win. If they win, it would also tie the AJHL record for consecutive home wins with 28, a record set by the 1976-77 Red Deer Rustlers. Tickets are available online at tickets.brooksbandits.ca.
