VIDEO: Rattlers women’s volleyball team keeps playoff hopes alive

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat College Rattlers women’s volleyball team has no room for error left, however they lived to fight another day with a key victory on Saturday.

Needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, the Rattlers record a straight sets (25-15, 25-13, 25-20) victory over the visiting Olds College Broncos at the ‘Snake Pit.’

Player of the match Janelle Neyron was dominant for the Rattlers, posting 14 kills and eight digs on the afternoon, leading her Medicine Hat club in both categories.

A number of rookies were also given a chance to shine, who have since seen their roles expanded due to injury to star Amber Stigter.

Combined with a SAIT Trojans loss to Briercrest College on Saturday, the 11-11 Rattlers remain mathematically alive in the hunt for the South Division’s final playoff spot.

As for the men’s volleyball team, they outlasted Olds College in a five-set (25-21, 18-25, 24-26, 25-18, 15-13) marathon to sweep their weekend series against the Broncos.

Holding a 12-10 record, the Rattlers men’s squad remains two points ahead of Briercrest for the final playoff spot in the south.

The lady Rattlers and the Trojans will battle on Friday in a must-win game for Medicine Hat College, which would set up a winner-take-all regular season finale against SAIT next Saturday at the ‘Snake Pit.’
