EVERETT, WASHINGTON — Mads Sogaard’s masterful rookie WHL campaign has stretched state-side.

The Danish netminder secured his third shutout of his career, making a flawless 41-saves as the Medicine Hat Tigers edged the Everett Silvertips 1-0 at the Angel of the Winds Arena on Friday night. The 18-year-old has nearly as many shutouts as regulation losses this season, improving his personal record to 14-4-2-2.

It’s Sogaard’s second shutout in less than a week, following up last Saturday’s 16-save blank over the Brandon Wheat Kings at the Canalta Centre.

Captain James Hamblin scored the lone goal of the evening 16:40 into the second period with assists by alternate captain Ryan Jevne and forward Brett Kemp.

The ‘Tips, who sit first in the WHL’s U.S. Division, have their four-game win streak halted in the process. Dustin Wolf earned the game’s third star with 28 saves on 29 shots.

Medicine Hat has now won three straight, including their first two of a current four-game road trip. They’re now four points back of Edmonton for first place in the Central Division with two games in hand, and two points back of Lethbridge for second place.

The Tigers now travel to Kent, Washington for a date with the Seattle Thunderbirds on Saturday night. Puck drop from accesso ShoWare Center is 7:05 p.m. MST.
