Environment Canada lifts extreme cold warning

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Environment Canada has ended the extreme cold warning for Medicine Hat and the surrounding area.

The lifting of the warning took place at 10:22 a.m. on Thursday.

Although the warning has ended, cold temperatures are currently expected to remain in the forecast. According to Environment Canada, Wednesday’s high temperature is expected to be minus 20 degrees Celsius, and will drop to minus 28 degrees. With the windchill, overnight the temperatures will feel like minus 33 degrees, and there is still a risk of frostbite.

Environment Canada says temperatures are expected to begin warming up on Sunday, reaching a high of minus 19 degrees, with a temperature of minus 7 degrees Celsisu currently in the forecast for Wednesday.
