INTERVIEWS: Tigers comment on playoff race, four-game road trip

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The logs are jammed in the WHL’s Central Division.

Nine points separate five teams from the top of the charts as the final six weeks of regular season play sink in.

Edmonton sits alone in first with 66 points in 53 games. Lethbridge nips at the Oil Kings heals with 63 points and two games in hand, and Medicine Hat rounds out the top three with 60 points in 50 games.

Red Deer, who’s lost three straight, occupy fourth place and the first wild-card seed in the Eastern Conference with 59 points. Calgary is right behind the Rebels in the second wild-card position with 57 points, having won five of the last six.

There’s a lot left to shake out as the playoff push ramps up, and the Tigers would rather get an early jump on locking in their playoff fate rather than leave everything on the table in March.

CHAT Sports recently caught up with captain James Hamblin, alternate captain Ryan Chyzowski, forward Tyler Preziuso, goaltender Mads Sogaard, and assistant coach Ryan Smith to hear how they’re handling the pressure of a lively playoff race.

Plus, the five team members comment on opening up a four-game road trip in Cranbrook against the Kootenay ICE.
