OYEN, AB — The Town of Oyen is currently under a boil water advisory.

Alberta Health Services issues the warning on Tuesday, noting there is an issue with the water system in the town. The advisory was issued as a precautionary measure.

All businesses and residents are being advised to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to any consumption. This includes drinking, preparing infant formula or juices, cleaning raw foods, making ice and brushing teeth.

Water for bathing or washing clothes does not need to be boiled.

AHS advises people to wash their hands with soap and water, and use an alcohol based hand sanitizer with more than 60 per cent alcohol after drying your hands.

Residents are also able to purchase bottled water to consume during the length of the advisory.

AHS says the advisory will be in effect until further notice.
