MEDICINE HAT, AB — Brace yourself. It’s going to get colder tomorrow.

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for Medicine Hat, Cypress County, the County of Newell, the County of 40 Mile, and surrounding areas.

Cold Arctic air remains across much of Alberta. Wind chills between minus 40 and minus 45 degrees Celsius are expected tonight, and will return Wednesday morning. The cold air is expected to remain around throughout Wednesday and into Thursday morning.

The temperature is expected to improve by Thursday afternoon.

Environment Canada is reminding people that if they go outside, to cover up, as frostbite can develop on exposed skin within minutes in the cold temperature. They add the weather will also be too cold for pets to stay outside for lengthy periods of time.
