College names new president and CEO

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat College has announced its new president and CEO.

Kevin Shufflebotham will take over the role on April 15, according to an announcement from the Medicine Hat College board of governors Tuesday morning.

He replaces Wayne Resch, who served as the acting president and CEO following the retirement of Dr. Denise Henning in 2018.

Shufflebotham serves at the current provost at NAIT, and oversees the institutions schools of business, health and life sciences, skilled trades, applied sciences and technology, along with institutional research, the registrar’s office, recreation and athletics facilities, enrolment planning and other services.

“Medicine Hat College has a strong reputation for its focus on student success and serving the needs of the community,” he said in a statement. “The opportunity to serve as president of this highly valued organization is a tremendous privilege.”

Shufflebotham has also served as director of operations with the office of the president at MacEwan University, according to the release from the college. He has also held various management positions with the province’s Ministry of Advanced Education, including senior manager for the Alberta Council on Admissions and Transfer.
