MEDICINE HAT, AB – If Friday’s game was a wake up call, the following night was a suitable bounce back effort from the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Medicine Hat shut down the Brandon Wheat Kings on both sides of the puck on Saturday, rebounding with a crucial 5-0 shutout victory to get back in the win column.

Five different Tigers were able to find the back of the net, while Medicine Hat’s defensive core limited the Wheat Kings to only 16 shots on the night.

James Hamblin, Logan Christensen, and Brett Kemp helped stake the Tigers to a 3-0 lead in just the first 12 minutes of the first period and chased Brandon netminder Connor Ungar on just 11 shots.

Ryan Jevne was able to net his 22nd goal of the season early in the second period on the power play to make it a 4-0 game, while a pair of Tigers vets reached two big milestones on the play.

Hamblin’s helper brought him to 100 career assists, while Ryan Chyzowski now sits at 100 career points in a Tigers uniform.

For good measure, Elijah Brown ripped home his 10th of the season while wearing a full face mask in the third period to put the game out of reach for Medicine Hat.

It was a quiet night for Mads Sogaard between the pipes, however he earned his second WHL shutout with a 16-save performance.

Holding a 28-18-2-2 record, the Tigers have jumped back into third place in the Central Division with 60 points and sit just six points back of first place Edmonton.

Medicine Hat now gets ready for a four-game road swing through British Columbia and the United States, which will begin on Wednesday night in Cranbrook versus the Kootenay ICE.
