Mad Hatter & Happy Hatter – Jan 28

Happy Hatter
Happy with our mild winter so far. Was nice to have some rain on the weekend to make things feel like spring! Now some sun for Canada’s sunniest city would be wonderful!

Dog owners who don’t pickup after their dog gives other dog owners bad names.  It is the few that don’t who always impact the majority that do.

Mad Hatter
I recently (yesterday) went to a store here in hat and was told by a cashier that has worked for that store for many years, that in a week or two all the check-out tills will be ripped out and replaced with all self checkout. I find this very greedy of a company owned by the wealthiest families in the world!! This is also not convenient at all for parents with young children or seniors, not to mention people with disabilities. Also, many people do not like the self checkout as there is little privacy when paying with debit and credit card as other people get pushy and are in a rush. This is going to also cause a lot of lost jobs for all the cashiers etc. There used to be an option for either and I think it should continue, any comments to the store about this can me made online to their website, but I don’t like to do that as they ask for email etc. and will data mine me/us.

Happy Hatter
Happy with the deal we got on tiles over the weekend! Nice when you can find good clearance prices as renos can be pretty pricey otherwise!

What is with the utilities? I am a senior and we have had a warm winter, my bill was over $300. This is outrageous! I thought that we were the “Gas City”. How can we seniors and low-income families pay for this? Come on, City Hall, do something about this! Share your raise as we don’t get a raise.

Mad Hatter
The street where the new school is in Ranchlands… the young adult in red truck, it isn’t a speedway.  The side street may be the perfect spot to do donuts when icy for you.

Mad Hatter
Bylaw spends more time driving around than enforcing bylaws.  You can’t possibly tell me bylaw can’t see all those unshovelled walks or garbage bins now rolled back by themselves.  That’s right, bylaw enforcement only happens if someone complains.  Why not enforce the bylaws when they seem them?

Mad Hatter
Could someone explain to us if AB is in dire straits how is rich voters can donate $7 million to a party leader that has lived in AB for the last 2 years straight.  Born in Ottawa city to Catholic parents/single/white man/quit Universities/flew all over the country under previous government. No actual business ties to this province.
