MEDICINE HAT, AB – It’s still early in the cheerleading season, but the Ultimate Cheer Fusion squad is riding high.

Coming off a successful showing at the recent Swarm the Hat competition with a handful of medals to their name, the team is prepping for their next big competition this upcoming weekend.

Ironing out their routines, the Ultimate Cheer Fusion cheerleaders hosted a showcase at their Box Springs facility on Saturday for both friends and family alike.

One of those practicing was 10-year-old Charlee Routly, who is in her third year of cheerleading but her first with Ultimate Cheer Fusion.

She’s getting ready for a the Imagine Cheer and Dance Championship in Lethbridge, coming off a pair of ribbons at Swarm the Hat last weekend.

CHAT Sports spoke to Routly about her season and why cheerleading is the sport for her, along with Ultimate Cheer Fusion co-owner Jenna Jelinski about how her 56 athletes are preparing for the 2019 schedule of competitions.
