MEDICINE HAT, AB — Add another bullet point to the long list of accomplishments by Mads Sogaard this season.

The Medicine Hat Tigers rookie is among the best North American-based goaltenders eligible for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, slotted third in the NHL’s mid-season scouting report.

Sogaard, who laced up for Team Denmark at the World Juniors earlier this month, is surpassed only by top-ranked Spencer Knight of USA’s National Development Program, and Hunter Jones of the OHL’s Peterborough Petes.

The full rankings can be found here.

The Danish netminder, best recognized for his calm demeanor in high-stress situations, has earned a majority of starts for the Tigers this season. His .931 save percentage and 2.40 goals against average are the best among rookie goalies in the WHL.

Sogaard is currently in Red Deer for the CHL / NHL Top Prospects Game on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the newest member wearing orange and black has also cracked the list for North American skaters. Forward Brett Kemp, who was acquired from the Edmonton Oil Kings on Jan. 10, is ranked 156th.

Kemp sits second on the team with 25 goals this season, two of which coming in his Tigers debut against the Regina Pats. He joined the Tigers in the deal which sent forward Josh Williams, who did not make the rankings list, to the provincial capital.
