Mad Hatter & Happy Hatter – Jan 14

Jan 14, 2019 | 8:38 AM

Happy Hatter
In November we had a friend who passed away suddenly of a heart attack. He was a biker rider, so my husband thought we should get a patch made for his wife/partner and us to wear in memory of him. Once he got his license, he was in every Medicine Hat Toy Run. My husband ordered these patches through Rad Casuals and they were beautiful!!!  When he went to pay for them they said, “No charge and Merry Christmas.” I want to let them know that this gentleman’s wife also rides. She was so touched by the patches and you will be seeing her proudly wearing them on her vest!!!  Thank you again!!!

I do not live on Primrose Drive but fully sympathise with those who do. They paid top dollar for their homes because of the location. Now the city wants to build multifamily homes there. If they must develop this, then designate single family homes or similar, not several stories tall buildings that ruin the ambiance. Also, with the water table so high it will probably affect the underground water distribution and cause basement water problems. Not to mention the thousands of dollars for underground sprinklers and sodding. What are they doing in City Hall, living in separate rooms for each comity?

Kudos to the Peavey Mart and the Hampton’s Inn (and a few others) for installing Electric Vehicle (EV) charge points at their businesses.  As a consequence, they’ve been getting a lot more business from me and several other EV owners.  Other businesses in town need to step up, and so does our city. A J-1772 charge point doesn’t cost much to install and operate, and
it’s a clear indication that a city is moving into the future.  C’mon Medicine Hat, it’s time to embrace the EV revolution.  It would be a huge statement if our mall or our downtown association were to get them installed to support local businesses.  I’d be happy to pay for the
electricity and convenience!

I’m pleased to see in most cases we’ve entered 2019 in the Happy /Mad Hatter in the same petty, small minded, insular, politically pointless manner we ended 2018. Well done Hatters! You truly are an unpleasant population for small minded mega-village. Try climbing out of the 20th century.

Lazy person delivering flyers on Sunrise Rd just throws the flyers on the steps or sidewalk. Thanks to that person my neighbour’s flyers are all over my yard.

Some washed up hockey player said Medicine Hat was just slightly better than Buffalo, and now he wants to live here?  Too funny.  Apparently Buffalo didn’t want him.

Happy the guest services staff at the Canalta Centre took time and braved the windy conditions to hold doors open for us as we left on Friday. Sure amazing venue & great staff!
