MEDICINE HAT, AB – Brothers Griffin and Ty Moline are sharing not just the court, but living space, vehicles, and plenty more as they chase an ACAC championship with the Medicine Hat College Rattlers men’s volleyball team.

Griffin, a three-year veteran of the Rattlers organization, has been a mainstay all over the court for the Rattlers this season as one of their most experienced players.

That experience has transitioned the utility player to a new position at libero, picking up 18 digs over the team’s first four games of the second semester.

He’s backed up this year by his brother Ty, who came to Medicine Hat over the summer after winding up his high school career with the Notre Dame Cougars out of Red Deer.

A true freshman with the Rattlers, Ty has only entered seven matches this year with his lone stat line being a single dig against the Ambrose University Lions on October 19.

However, the younger Moline brother has shown flashes of potential with his speed and quickness at the libero position.

They’re both looking to get the 7-9 Rattlers men’s team into the playoff picture after dropping a straight sets (25-17, 25-21, 25-20) decision to the first-place Lethbridge College Kodiaks on Saturday.

As for Medicine Hat College’s women’s team, they took down the Kodiaks in four sets (25-11, 25-20, 22-25, 25-21) to improve their record on the season to 9-7.

CHAT Sports spoke to both Griffin and Ty following Saturday’s match against the Kodiaks, as well as head coach Mark Porter about what he’s seen out of the Moline pairing this season.
