ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE, AB – A third period line brawl overshadowed a dominant performance by the Medicine Hat Midget AA Hounds in their only game of the weekend Saturday.

Medicine Hat lit the lamp nine times against the top-ranked West Central Tigers, rolling through the Rocky Mountain House club to pick up a 9-1 victory in a game that saw over 170 penalty minutes dished out.

Cam Hall and Brandon Kasdorf netted two goals for Medicine Hat over the opening four minutes to take an early 2-0 lead, however West Central pulled within a goal thanks to a power play marker from Caileb Berge before the end of the period.

Doing some damage on the power play themselves, the Hounds added back-to-back goals on the man advantage in the second period from Jacob Milne and Brady Dovichak to make it a 4-1 game.

Levi Schlosser finished off his first goal of the night with 6:42 remaining in the second period, putting Medicine Hat ahead by four goals at the second intermission.

He added his second of the game just under seven minutes into the third, before Connor Miller boosted the Hounds to a 7-1 lead just a few minutes later.

That’s when tempers boiled over, as a line brawl erupted between the Hounds and Tigers that saw four players on each side being handed game misconducts with 6:26 left in the contest.

Ryley Manz and Hall potted goals over the final two and a half minutes to remove any doubt, clinching the 9-1 victory for Medicine Hat.

Schlosser led the field with four points for the Hounds in the win, followed by Hall, Kasdorf, and Manz who all finished the game with three points each.

As for Hounds netminder Teron Funk, he only allowed one goal on 24 shots against to move his record on the season to 8-1 through 11 games.

Sitting atop the South Conference with a 14-4-4 record, the Hounds are four points clear of the Lethbridge Hurricane Hounds for first place with 32 points.

Back home for a pair of games next weekend at the Kinplex, Medicine Hat will host Lethbridge on Saturday at 4:45 pm before facing the Wheatland Chiefs at 2:00 pm on Sunday.
