MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Olds College Broncos are the only team that seem to have the Medicine Hat College Rattlers figured out.

The Broncos women’s basketball squad rallied after a first-half deficit to squeak by the Rattlers 57-53 on Friday night at the Snake Pit.

It’s just the second time the first-place Rattlers have lost this season — both of which at the hands of Olds College. They’re now 10-2 this year, and hold a two-point lead over the Broncos for first place in the ACAC’s South Conference.

It didn’t come due to a lack of opportunity. MHC went a measly 21-for-71 from the field, and just 5-for-12 on free throws. Fifth-year Kendell Kuntz led the Rattlers with 13 points, closely followed by Morgan Muir with 10.

The men’s Rattlers squad received scoring by committee to earn their first win of the second semester. Jaamel Slack scored a game-high 19 points and Kieron Burgess notched his third straight double-double in a dominating 92-67 victory over Olds College.

Burgess, who did not play in first semester, scored 18 points and gobbled up 15 rebounds in the win. Omon Edobar notched 15 points, and D’Shawn Tyrell scored 10 off the bench.

The men are now four points clear of RDC for the fourth and final playoff spot in the South Conference.

Both the women and the men return to action Saturday night, hosting the Ambrose University Lions at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. respectively.
