Man charged following Wednesday morning hit-and-run

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A 21-year-old man from Regina has been charged following a hit and run early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to a collision in the 1700 block of 17th Street Southeast. Police allege the driver of a 1997 Dodge Caravan collided with a parked 1999 Mercury Sable. Witnesses say the driver of the Caravan fled the scene on foot.

The K9 unit responded to the scene, with Police Service Dog Flint being deployed to track the suspect, who was quickly located and arrested.

Police estimate damage to both vehicles totals a combined $4,000.

The man was charged with careless driving, failure to remain at the scene of an accident and operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence.
