MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat is a huge golfing community, with a landscape that caters to some of the best courses in Alberta.

Hatters are out golfing every chance they can, but during the winter it can be tough, that’s why the Desert Blume Golf Club has brought in something a little different.

Desert Blume has brought in a large golf simulator for the next 3 months, meant to tame those antsy golfers that just can’t wait.

“Obviously with golf coming up soon, especially being down here in south Alberta, we wanted to offer something where players can come here and play,” says Wade Waters, head golf professional at Desert Blume.

It’s not the only simulator in Medicine Hat, but this one includes a laser system that tracks your every move, and the opportunity to play on any course you like.

“Players can see their different stats, their different club head speed, ball speed, launch angle, if they hit a push, if they hit a fade, if they hit a pull or a hook,” says Waters. “All that kind of stuff, so there’s a lot of different features on it.”

The simulator has had a great response so far, even getting enough attention to support an entire winter league.

If all goes smoothly, it might be back next year.

“We’ll see how it goes this year and if it goes really well, then this is something we might acquire to have it permanently in the building,” Waters said.

The simulator is open from Tuesday to Sunday.
