MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers will be without Hayden Ostir for at least four to six weeks.

According to Medicine Hat Tigers head coach and general manager Shaun Clouston, the Tigers forward suffered a dislocated kneecap during last week’s game against the Kootenay ICE.

“There’s a MCL sprain that goes along with that, nothing majorly torn,” he said. “We will look at getting him an MRI, just to make sure everything is what the doctor thinks it is exactly.”

Ostir’s injury occurred during the second period after crashing into the boards. He had to be helped off the ice and did not return to the game.

Clouston also provided an update to Ryan Chyzowski, who also suffered a lower body injury during Saturday’s game against the Calgary Hitmen. Chyzowski had his leg cut by a skate blade during the game, and will miss seven to 10 days.

“It was an ugly gash, but the swelling is coming down, and he’s feeling better, so we think, hopefully next Wednesday, or for sure by the following weekend, he’ll be back,” said Clouston.

Clouston adds Bryan Lockner has been cleared to return after passing concussion protocol.
