EDMONTON, AB — The Alberta Government has opened up nominations for the Alberta Order of Excellence.

Residents are invited to nominate community leaders, innovators and notable citizens for the award, with up to 10 people being inducted into the Order this year.

A release from the province says nominees must be Canadian citizens living in Alberta, and if selected, must be able to attend the investiture ceremony in October.

People cannot nominate themselves, their spouse or partner, or a member of their immediate family, the release states.

Nominations need to be received by February 15 to be considered for 2019. Nominations received after the date, and those not selected in 2019, can be held and considered for up to three years.

Last year, Reg Basken, k.d. lang, Rosella Bjornson, Wayne Chiu, David Manz , Solomon Rolingher, Allan Wachowich and Ralph Young were selected for the Order.
