MEDICINE HAT, AB – Captain James Hamblin led the way in style for the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday night, helping the team to a 4-1 win over the Kootenay ICE in their return from the holiday break.

Hamblin netted both the game-winning goal in the second period and an insurance marker in the third to secure the victory for Medicine Hat.

Ryan Chyzowski and Ryan Jevne scored the other two goals for the Tigers, helping the team pick up a valuable two points against their divisional rival from Kootenay.

Martin Bodak was the lone goal scorer for Kootenay on Friday, netting his seventh of the season with 45 seconds remaining in the second period.

Forward Elijah Brown was kept off the scoresheet in his return from a shoulder injury but was plus-one on the evening, while Jordan Hollett stopped 26 of the 27 shots he saw to earn the victory.

Kicking off their three-game weekend with a win, the 18-15-1-2 Tigers now sit just three points behind Lethbridge and Red Deer for third place in the Central Division.

Medicine Hat will get their next chance at closing that gap on Saturday night, facing another British Columbia team in the Victoria Royals at 7:30 pm at the Canalta Centre.
