Oyen RCMP responding to four vehicle collision

OYEN, AB — RCMP in Oyen are currently responding to a four vehicle collision in the area.

According to a release sent just before 2 p.m., the collision occurred on Highway 9 near Range Road 60.

Details about the collision are limited, and there is no information regarding any injuries or fatalities. Traffic is currently being diverted at Highway 886 and Range Road 55, and officers say the diversion is expected to last several hours.

Motorists are being advised to use caution as they travel, noting conditions are icy. A freezing drizzle advisory was put in place Thursday morning throughout much of southeastern Alberta.

A collision analyst was called to the scene.

As of 4:55 p.m., RCMP say the road is expected to open up within the next 90 minutes.
