MEDICINE HAT, AB — Ford is recalling 874,000 pickup trucks across North America after discovering an issue with engine block heaters that could cause fires.

The recall, announced on Friday, affects 2015-2019 Ford F-150 trucks, along with the 2017-2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty, F-450 Super Duty, and F-550 Super Duty pick-up trucks.

According to The Associated Press, the company says water and contaminants may get into the block heaters cable splice connector, causing corrosion, damage, and potentially a fire. Ford says there are reports of three fires in Canada linked to the issue, but they are unaware of any injuries or accidents.

The recall covers approximately 464,000 trucks in Canada.
