MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Police Service has hired on four experienced police officers to help with staffing levels.

The topic was discussed at Thursday night’s police commission meeting.

Two officers were hired from the Calgary Police Service while another was hired from the Lethbridge Police Service.

A fourth officer was hired from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

The service went through a recruitment earlier this year but have seen a few resignations and retirements.

McGrogan said the experience these officers bring has already proved to be of value.

“There’s quite a variety of experience in what they’ve been dealing with in their policing careers so it’s great to have that experience come here,” he said.

According to the chief’s report, the four have completed two weeks of in-service training and will be assigned to the patrol section with a field training officer.
