MEDICINE HAT, AB — Mads Sogaard was recognized by the Western Hockey League this week.

The Medicine Hat Tigers goaltender was named the league’s Goaltender of the Week, after winning games against the Kamloops Blazers and Red Deer Rebels last week.

Sogaard allowed only three goals on 88 shots in the two games, with 49 coming from Friday’s game against the Rebels.

The award also makes Sogaard eligible for the Canadian Hockey League’s Goaltender of the Week.

Last week, the goaltender was also named to the CHL Prospects Game, along with teammate Josh Williams.

Sogaard, who currently holds a 10-4-1-2 record, has joined Team Denmark ahead of the World Junior Hockey Championships in Vancouver and Victoria later this month.
