JV Mohawks win home tournament

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat High School Mohawks junior varsity basketball team took home the gold medal at their home tournament this weekend.

The Mohawks defeated Western Canada High School in the tournament finals 59-53. A score sheet from the final game was not available, but the team described the final game as a defensive affair.

Lukas Herter of the Mohawks was named tournament all-star.

The Mohawks defeated Taber’s W.R. Myers High School, and Winston Knoll Collegiate out of Regina to earn their way into the finals.

The Mohawks weren’t the only team from Hat High to win this weekend.

The junior varsity Kwahommies girls basketball team took home the gold medal, defeating the Winston Knoll Collegiate team in the finals.

The Mohawks return to league play on Tuesday, travelling to Magrath to battle the Zeniths. The junior varsity game begins at 6 p.m, while the senior varsity plays at 8 p.m.
