Medicine Hat, AB – After picking up a win against the High River Flyers on Friday night, the Medicine Hat Travelodge Cubs didn’t have much of a break.

Medicine Hat was back on the ice Saturday night at the Kinplex as they welcomed the Three Hills Thrashers into town.

Thankfully for Cubs fans, this game started out how they had hoped.

Just fifty seconds into the opening frame, Grant Forbes got the home side on the board, with assists being handed out to Desmond Crawford and Noah Irvine.

Just eighteen seconds later, Chandler Aleman would put the cubs up 2-0, with Frobes picking up the lone assist on that goal.

The Cubs then picked up the pace, notching two power-play markers to finish off the opening frame.

After 20 minutes, the Cubs led 4-0.

Just like the first period, Medicine Hat would get on the board early in the second.

Cooper Hillworth scored just nineteen seconds into the period, with Joshua Schafer picking up the only helper.

It wasn’t all bad news for Three Hills though, as the Thrashers would net a pair of power-play goals in the second.

However at the end of 40 minutes, the Cubs had a commanding 9-2 lead.

In the final frame, Medicine Hat would continue their hot streak early, as they scored yet another goal within the first sixty-seconds of the third period on the power-play.

The Cubs would follow that up with two more power-play goals and an additional three goals at even strength.

Ultimately, Medicine Hat dominated from start to finish, going 7/15 on the power-play and hammering 55 shots on Thrashers goaltender’s Conner Dixon and Devon Carroll.

Cubs goalie Martyn Clift picked up the win between the pipes, steering away 25 of a possible 27 shots.

Fletcher Aleman led the way for Medicine Hat, notching five points (four goals, one assist), while Chandler Aleman grabbed four points (two goals, two assists) and Joshua Schafer also picked up four assists.

With the win, Medicine Hat now sits 11-11-3 (25 points) on the season and are fifth in their division.

The Cubs now sit two points ahead of the High River Flyers.

Medicine Hat will now play their third game in three days today, when they take on the Lomond Lakers (5-21-0) in Claresholm.
