BROOKS, AB – The Brooks Bandits (32-3) scored twice on their first two shots, in just 25 seconds, and never looked back, en route to a dominant 10-2 win over the visiting Calgary Canucks on Saturday night.

The win extended the Bandits’ lead over Drumheller for first in the AJHL South division to 18 points, with their lead over Sherwood Park for first overall holding at 10 points.

Ryan Mahshie (Stoney Creek, ON) scored first just 19 seconds into the game when he wired a shot post-and-in from the right circle. After the centre ice faceoff, Ray Christy (St. Paul, MN) slipped crossing the blue line, but still fired a shot from one knee that skipped off the glove of Calgary goalie Jonah

Chambers and into the net to double the lead.

On a Bandit power play, Wyatt Villalta (Kingston, ON) blasted home a slap shot goal from the point at 2:41 to make it 3-0 in his first game back from suspension, while Randy Hernandez (Miami, FL) tapped a puck home from the side of the net after falling on the rush for a 4-0 lead at 6:08. Calgary got on the board before the period was out when Brandon Brazeau scored from the slot.

In the second, Simon Gravel (Boucherville, QC) make it 5-1 on the power play 9:47 in when he banked a puck from the end wall off the back of goalie Chambers and in. William Lemay scored at the 13:52 mark right off a faceoff setup by Gravel, and then scored again 61 seconds later on a bar-down wrist shot from the slot.

Simon Boyko (Mississauga, ON) tapped home a backdoor feed from Andranik Armstrong 1:55 into the third on the power play for an 8-1 lead, before Dylan Clark of the Canucks had the goal light go on when he rang a shot off the crossbar from the right circle. But Mahshie scored his second of the game at 6:50 on a long point shot, and less than a minute later Carter Wolski (Sexsmith, AB) wristed one home from the right circle to notch the 10-2 final.

Brooks goalie Tanner Marshall (Kelowna, BC) made 14 saves on 16 shots to push his undefeated record to 4-0.

The Bandits now enter their Christmas break before returning to action December 28th when they travel to Canmore to begin a home-and-home series with the Eagles.
