MEDICINE HAT, AB — The City of Medicine Hat has announced a new initiative aimed at helping reduce natural gas consumption next month.

The Bundle Up Challenge was announced on Tuesday, with the goal of reducing natural gas consumption by five per cent or more between January 1 and 31, compared to the natural gas consumption at the same time last year.

The city’s residential customers can register for the contest until January 15, and they have a chance for prizes, including a $500 grand prize.

The Bundle Up challenge is similar to the Power Down contest from the summer, where residents were encouraged to lower their electricity consumption.

A release from the city says they’re also encouraging people to challenge friends and family members to take part in the challenge. Entry forms also include an option to name challengers, and both people will receive additional entries to win a $100 Medicine Hat gift card.

More information about the challenge, along with entry forms, can be found here.
