MEDICINE HAT, AB — HALO is thanking one community organization for bettering their technology and helping to keep everyone on board safe.

The Medicine Hat Kinsmen donated roughly $9,000 to the medevac rescue helicopter.

The money allowed HALO to purchase six active noise cancelling, blue tooth helmets in various sizes, and an adjustable helmet.

“Anybody knows with a corded phone, you know you’re tied to the kitchen wall and you can’t go very far,” said board member, Tricia Nardari. “But as soon as you introduce that cordless technology, you have a lot more flexibility and ability to move where you need to without any sort of inhibition.”

Helmet liners and a wireless system were also purchased with the donation, which means EMS crews will be able to keep their helmets on at the scene and still talk to the flight crew inside the helicopter.

Nardari adds that this allows for more flexibility while in flight.

“We’ve really advanced with the addition of the helicopter, the twin engine machine, this is another big step forward for us,” she said. “It allows us to advance the technology and support the medical crews even better by giving them that hands free capability in the back of the aircraft.”
