TORONTO, ON. — A total of 10 Canadians, including one of Canada’s most successful businessmen, were recently inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame.

Jim Pattison, owner, chairman and CEO of the Jim Pattison Group, was among the inductees this year. Pattison was recognized in the business and entrepreneur category at the Walk of Fame’s 20th anniversary gala in Toronto on December 1. The ceremony was televised on Sunday.

“I was certainly very honoured to be included in that list, and so, I was very much appreciated and learned what those folks do, and met some interesting people, ” Pattison said. “I was very, very pleased to be involved.”

The Jim Pattison Group is Canada’s second-largest privately-held company. It owns Save-on-Foods, Ripley Entertainment, the Guinness Book of World Records, Sun Rype products, and multiple radio stations and television stations, among other companies.

Pattison, 90, remains connected to all of his companies.

“I have a sort of philosophy that you don’t lose when you lose, you really only lose when you quit,” he said. “Determination and grit is certainly a good asset to have when you’re trying to take risks and do new things.”
