MEDICINE HAT, AB – Less than 24 hours after seeing their undefeated streak snapped, the SEAC Midget 15 Tigers got back to their winning ways at the Hockey Hounds Rec Centre on Saturday.

Riding a 34-save performance from Brendan Olson, the Tigers outlasted the visiting AC Avalanche by a 2-1 final in the matinee contest.

SEAC opened the scoring late in the first period, with blueliner Cole Rath ripping home a shot on the power play with 3:33 left in the frame to put the Tigers up 1-0.

The Avalanche pressed SEAC hard in the second period with 11 shots, but Olson was rock solid stopping everything that came his way.

That opened a window with 1:16 left in the period for the Tigers, who doubled their lead to 2-0 off a power play marker from Ethan Machan for his second goal of the weekend.

Olson’s shutout bid was broken up six minutes into the third period, with Avalanche forward Shaw Cathcart finding the back of the net to keep the Airdrie club in the game.

The Avalanche outshot the Tigers 16-5 over the final 20 minutes, but Olson held the fort to earn the victory with just one goal allowed on 35 shots.

Now holding a record of 9-4-4, the Tigers sit just one point behind the Red Deer North Star Chiefs for third place in the South Division.

They will hit the road for Calgary next weekend, with games on Saturday and Sunday against the CRAA Blue Royals and NWCAA Bruins to close the first half of the season.

As for the SEAC Bantam AAA Tigers, they kicked off their weekend slate of games Saturday with a 3-3 draw against the visiting Lethbridge Golden Hawks.

It took only two minutes for SEAC to open the scoring against Lethbridge, as Dawson Seitz beat Golden Hawks goalie Ty Young to put the home side up early.

Lethbridge was able to even up the score at 1-1 midway through the second period though, scoring on the power play from Cole Wirun.

The Tigers re-took the lead 70 seconds into the third period off another goal from Seitz, but the Golden Hawks answered right back with markers from John Szabo and Caden Heins.

Trailing with less than eight minutes left in regulation, the Tigers picked up a big goal from rookie Elias Eisenbarth to tie up the game at 3-3, which held as the final score.

Tigers netminder Bodee Weiss allowed three goals on 21 shots but was still able to secure a point for SEAC, while Young had 45 saves in the Lethbridge crease.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Tigers as they take on the Airdrie Xtreme on home ice Sunday, with puck drop set for 2:45 pm.
